UK-based space domain awareness startup Spaceflux has extended its seed round with an additional £3.5 million, bringing total funding to £9 million (approximately €10.4 million). According to the company, the new capital will be used to accelerate its expansion into new markets.

Founded in 2022, Spaceflux provides optical space surveillance and tracking services across multiple orbits. In 2025, the UK government awarded the company three contracts under its National Space Operations Centre framework with a combined value of roughly £5 million. The company also secured a contract from MDA Space to support Canada’s national Surveillance of Space 2 programme.

On 25 July 2025, Spaceflux announced £5.4 million in seed funding to expand its telescope network and accelerate development of its AI-powered tracking solutions. On 27 April 2026, Spaceflux closed a £3.5 million extension to its seed round. The extension was led by existing investor Blackfinch Ventures, a UK venture capital firm, and included additional contributions from several of the company’s existing investors. SPARX Asset Management, a Tokyo-based asset manager, was the only new investor disclosed, investing through its Space Frontiers Fund II.

“After delivering all three UK Government space surveillance and tracking contracts, being selected by Canadian company MDA Space as an optical systems provider for the Canadian government, and joining NATO DIANA, we are now scaling our AI-powered space intelligence internationally,” said Spaceflux CEO Dr. Marco Rocchetto. “Bringing in SPARX Asset Management as a new Japanese investor, alongside continued support from our existing backers, is a clear signal that the demand for allied space intelligence is global.”

While the company said the new capital would support its expansion, it is unclear whether or not Spaceflux has yet delivered on earlier commitments to expand its telescope network.

In early 2025, Spaceflux said it aimed to expand its telescope network from 15 locations to 25 by the end of the year. The company, however, had previously set the same 15-to-25 expansion target for 2024 in 2023, suggesting that its publicly stated network size had remained largely unchanged in the interim. Spaceflux has not yet confirmed whether its planned expansion was ultimately carried out in 2025.
