European rocket launches in 2027

The 2027 European rocket launch schedule tracks both upcoming and completed missions aboard European-developed launch vehicles, including Ariane 6, Vega C, and Isar Aerospace’s Spectrum rocket. The schedule covers orbital launches and selected major suborbital missions, with launch dates, locations, payloads and mission outcomes updated as new information becomes available.

Ariane 6 launch schedule for 2027

Arianespace is targeting a further increase in the annual launch cadence of Ariane 6 in 2027, with both the two-booster Ariane 62 and four-booster Ariane 64 configurations expected to fly from the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana. Notably, ArianeGroup said in late 2026 that the company would reach the Ariane 6 launch system’s current maximum cadence that year.

The Ariane 6 launch schedule for 2027 includes the launch of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) PLATO exoplanet observatory, currently scheduled for March aboard an Ariane 62. The flight will also carry ESA’s Henon deep-space CubeSat. A Galileo navigation satellite is also expected to be launched for ESA on behalf of the European Union.

Ariane 6 is also expected to conduct several more launches for Amazon’s Leo broadband internet constellation. Arianespace has secured contracts for 24 Amazon Leo launches through 2031, though it has not confirmed the number planned for 2027.

Other launches planned for 2027 include a dedicated Ariane 64 flight carrying Eutelsat OneWeb satellites and the second-half launch of Katalyst Space Technologies’ NEXUS-1 satellite servicing spacecraft.

Vega C launch schedule for 2027

Avio’s Vega C rocket is expected to continue carrying a mix of European institutional and international commercial payloads from the Guiana Space Centre in 2027.

One of the confirmed missions for the Vega C launch schedule in 2027 is Brazil’s Amazônia-1B Earth observation satellite. Other spacecraft associated with the 2027 Vega C manifest include the EAGLE-1 quantum communications demonstrator and South Korea’s KOMPSAT-6 satellite. However, the launch arrangements and dates for several provisional missions still require confirmation.

Isar Aerospace Spectrum launches in 2027

German launch company Isar Aerospace is expected to conduct several Spectrum launches from Andøya Spaceport in Norway in 2027, following the rocket’s first successful orbital flight on 5 September 2026.

The Isar Aerospace launch schedule for 2027 includes the Tom & Jerry satellite inspection demonstration, developed by French company Infinite Orbits, with spacecraft supplied by Open Cosmos. The mission is currently targeting mid-2027.

Isar Aerospace also has an agreement with Austrian satellite company R-Space covering launches in 2027. Another mission to watch is Astroscale Japan’s ADRAS-J2 debris removal spacecraft, which has a launch window extending from 2027 into 2028.

The exact dates for most Spectrum launches in 2027 have yet to be announced.

New European rockets targeting first flights in 2027

Beyond Europe’s operational launch vehicles, several emerging European rocket companies are targeting inaugural flights in 2027.

Among the most closely watched is French company MaiaSpace, a subsidiary of ArianeGroup, which is targeting the second half of 2027 for the first orbital launch attempt of its partially reusable Maia rocket from French Guiana. The company abandoned plans for a separate suborbital test flight in favour of proceeding directly to an orbital attempt.

In Spain, PLD Space has a commercial contract to launch two Sateliot Tritó satellites aboard its MIURA 5 rocket in 2027. The mission will represent an important milestone in the company’s transition towards commercial orbital launch services. The company will, however, first have to complete an inaugural flight of the rocket, which is expected in early 2027.

French startup Latitude is also targeting its first orbital launch in 2027, with Oman among the proposed launch locations. Another French company, HyPrSpace, plans to conduct the inaugural suborbital flight of its Baguette One demonstrator.

How are launch dates verified and updated?

Launch dates are compiled from announcements by launch providers, satellite operators, space agencies and other official sources. Where possible, European Spaceflight also uses information obtained directly from the organisations involved.

Dates are updated as schedules change. Missions with confirmed launch dates are distinguished from those carrying provisional launch periods or dates that have yet to be announced.

The abbreviation NET means No Earlier Than, indicating that a launch will not occur before the stated date. TBC means To Be Confirmed.

Completed missions remain in the schedule with their actual launch dates and outcomes, allowing each annual page to serve as a historical record.
